WE JOIN THE CHALLENGE
GUTTMAN TITAN DESERT

It is an extreme mountain biking competition. It takes place during 6 consecutive days in the Moroccan desert and stands out for its hardness. It is a race that tests the physical and mental endurance of its participants.

The terrain is varied, with strong winds, sandy and rocky stretches, endless plains, and all in extremely hot weather conditions.

Sometimes it is even necessary to get off the bike to move forward and the stages are and become very long.

But… what does the Titan have to have for so many to repeat?

The Institut Guttmann is a neurorehabilitation hospital opened in 1965. It is an international reference in the medical-surgical treatment and comprehensive and holistic rehabilitation of people affected by spinal cord injury, acquired brain damage or other neurological disabilities.

Today it is one of the best hospitals in the world for the intensive, personalized and specialized rehabilitation of people affected by a nervous system injury.

With a large team of professionals, it serves more than 4,500 patients a year to help them achieve greater functional autonomy and a better quality of life. In addition to the team’s high level of competence, its human quality must also be added, which manages to improve the patient’s well-being and mental health, as well as their physical health.

From the union of the Institut Guttmann and the Titan Desert comes this challenge to which Fittexport has joined as a sponsor.

Travel 600km in 6 days, with 6,000m of elevation gain in the desert of Morocco with two mixed teams formed by: a patient with a spinal cord injury (e-handbike) and a patient with a brain injury (standard MTB).

Along with the participants will also be a support team of professionals from the Institut Guttmann.

We have signed up for the Guttmann Titan Desert challenge because it seemed to us a perfect way to encourage sporting challenges as part of a rehabilitation process.

At Fittexport we want to support patients with spinal cord and brain injuries at the Institut Guttmann and promote inclusion through sport with a team that is an example of self-improvement and resilience.

We also want to give visibility to sport adapted to people with neurological injuries and the benefits that this sport brings both physically and mentally.
